PRECAST SUMP SYSTEM–EXXON

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Exxon and Worley engaged Waskey to design and fabricate a large sump for its facility in Baton Rouge. The client engaged Waskey to fabricate this offsite to reduce safety risks and costly downtime of adjacent machinery inside their fully operational facility. The sump structure weighed over 150 tons and was designed in compliance with ACI 350. The design also included a tapered wall to reduce dead weight, tie ins for a cast in place lid, and embedded waterstop to tie-in an adjacent cooling tower. Waskey coordinated the challenging logistics to deliver such a large piece to the job site. Waskey improved the client’s construction schedule by over 30 days compared to the traditional cast-in-place methodology.
